Hi all
I'm completely new to owning chickens and decided to hatch our own eggs.
We had 7 out of 9 hatch. We seem to have 3 with splay leg :-( is there anything I should be doing?
They are now over 24 hours old and seem to be getting to the food ok.

Also I have no idea what we have hatched. If I post some pics could anyone have a guess for me?

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Splay leg is treatable if it is done early. Just make certain that it is splay leg and not a slipped achilles tendon. There is a section on hobbling them up when they have splay leg. It can take several days for them to gain enough strength that you can take the bandaid off.

If you have a grippy surface in the brooder that gives them better footing. Sometimes they get splayed legs from being on slick newspaper. The hobble method with bandages works well for most chicks if you don't delay. Sometimes the feet straighten out as early as a day or two.
