Yeah, paper towels are better I even use dishtowels that have a rough surface. It's so they don't slip around. Slipping around on newspaper and slippery surfaces like ChickintheBurbs said can cause leg and feet problems. I even only have them on that for the first few days until I notice that they are all eating properly and know where and what their food is so they don't eat the bedding. After the first few days they live happily on pine shavings that they have fun scratching in.
