Aww! Thanks Ya'll! So sweet for you all to reply. I have a flock of 3 young pullets and one chick being raised by a friend for me. My flock is Amelie and Americauna, Winnie a Wellsummer, and Raquel Squelch a Barred Plymouth. They are all about 7 months. Waiting any day for the first egg. The baby is Gemma, a Sapphire Blue Gem. She is only 3 weeks old now. Our family also consists of four dogs, called The Littles, 3 spoiled fat cats, a parrot named Aria, a hamster and a large fish tank. We all live in DFW area. We love our little starter coop, however we are already drawing up plans to build our own. Thanks for the warm welcomes! I welcome all tips n how to keep my hennies cool in this rapidly heating climate.

Very pretty picture! :love

To help your flock cool off; freeze water bottles and jugs of water for the flock to snuggle against, offer frozen fruit, and some birds will stand in a pool.
Use PVC for a frame, and zip tie chicken wire in an arch for a lightweight tunnel through your garden. They will clear weeds and bugs, but also have cool dirt to bury themselves in.
