I'm a real goose lady now. I got attacked!

If he hisses at you you need to hiss back! Also showing your dominance by raising your wings (arms) and hissing would help as well.... never do that and chase them... that will change the dynamics again! I do think its nice when they are protective... just not against you!

Please be careful! To the person who mentioned wanting an attack goose and their 3 year old grandson- although geese are just defending themselves they are quite capable of causing harm to small children. The serrations in the bill used to nip of grass can cut, and the battery of the wings/elbows can easily do damage. Enjoy your geese and be safe.

I know first hand what damage they can do. Some friends from the city came up for the weekend to fish. Out on the inland private lake we go. There must have been 200 canadian geese on the shore with babies. Ron says, Id like to catch one of the babies just to feel its down. I said you are out of your mind those geese will beat you half to death. He wouldnt listen and about 1 hour later he is asking to be taken to the country hospital. His shoulder was dislocated. I said CITY BOY never ever fool with mother nature. Needless to say he has not been back up to fish LOL

I love my geese dearly but have learned what to do around them and what not. We live in a pretty peaceful environment now that "I" learned what they are asking of me.

me tooooo! stops me everytime from hatching them!

aww... but the ones you hatch are usually little sweeties. I should clarify that the ones who attacked me were from another farm originally and they were naturally incubated and raised by geese.

Even one of those will eat out of my hand.

Raising the arms is very effective, I do it with ganders I don't know who approach me in demanding ways or try to grab food out of people's hands.

If you raise your own from babies, it's much easier to deal with them than geese you meet in public places or on other people's farms that don't see you as Mom.

By the way, welcome to the wonderful world of dealing with geese! You've been initiated.
