I'm a somewhat newbie chicken keeper

Hello there all, I'm 24 yrs old I live in Illinois, I recently got out of the army and got the urge to raise some chickens. Ever since I was a young lad I've helped my Mamaw with her chickens. But since I have the time now I've got my own. I have 5 hens and 1 rooster, I have named them chicken, noodle, soup and crackers and chicken and dumplings. I live on 5 acres with plenty of grass and woods for the chickens to go roam. They sure are happy. I picked up the chickens from my Mamaw so they are already laying eggs. And oh boy let me tell ya there delicious. I was pretty lucky the ground I bought had a chicken coop it's a bit run down but the kids sure dont mind it. I plan on making a new one very very soon.

Chickens never care what their place looks like. So don't think you need to make it look pretty.

Do check to make sure it is predator proof.
