Hi all! I am an ACO and got my first rescue chicken last year ... A cute EE... She was crossing the road and no one claimed her. Then I got a rescue bantam girl. Recently I ended up with lots of rescue babies... Lost 17 but 13 lived.

Anyway.... One was supposedly a WPR the others plucked her. Now her feathers are golden/reddish and black. But I'm thinking it was because the store dunked her in no pluck the purple meds. Here she is and she is huge! First pick she was about 2 weeks. Now maybe about 7 weeks next to her supposed sisters.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. You have a Production Red cockerel. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chickens.

I feel like she is older than them. Her comb is very pink. The picture makes it look redder than it is. But even if she was a roo ...they are white. So do you think she is a different breed or did the meds mess her color up?

When I got her home I washed her with water and the purple would not come off. I put her with the younger rescued chicks and they did not pluck her. But now they are all together in the Dane cage waiting to be big enough so my EE adult does hurt them. She can be mean (maybe why no one claimed her)

I'll go look up production red. Thank u all!!!

He is a different breed than your White Plymouth Rocks; a Production Red cockerel.

I have 50 acres so I can have roosters but feel I may end up with too many. Here's praying for a girl lol! I am not sure of the age then because they obviously didn't tell me the truth. Also She does not like the WPR too much.

Do roosters fight at night in the coop? I have a huge 16x16 coop so I can separate. But would rather just separate during the day. I have hawks and eagles because we hay the field. so my runs are covered. And can separate during day easily.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Some roosters will get along if they were raised together, but hatchery RIR/Production Red roos do have a tendency to be fairly aggressive.
