>( I'm am super ticked!!! Fox is still here...GRR!

Thanks for all the replies..
We are SURE that it is a fox! Trust me...We have seen him chase down, kill, and carry away the chickens, and we have seen him try to pull the chickens through the dog crate...It's not a matter of figuring out what it is, it is definitely a fox, it's a matter of killing him.
I think we are going to go with baiting and shooting. I dont especially care if it is legal, he is killing all my chickens, and I can't keep them safe anymore...You have to realize, he is doing this in a high traffic area (the barn area...We have a lesson barn, and there are many people walking through, and me and the other trainer are working horses out there every day) He comes out in the middle of the day, and we have SEEN him go right in the barn to try to snatch a chicken...This was the first time he has come out in the early morning. I'm assuming they are getting desperate, because I have had the chickens and ducks locked up super tight, and asked the neighbors to keep theirs locked up for the last week or so to make him desperate...Theory is, we get them hungry enough, bait them, and shoot them.

Anyway, thanks again!

Lollipop - I'll working on sending you a PM now!

I agree with some post above , you have more than one predator, i have a wildlife feeding area and it is not uncommon to find a fox and coon even a possum feeding at the same time, the only time they disperse is when my dogs, the wolf or bob cat enters the area, but they waist no time coming back when they know they are gone.

I rather like the wolves being here , they do not bother my flock ,and there are no coyotes on my place.

Mark & Nique :

"...These guys are locked in a dog crate at night that is wrapped in plastic - he pulled them THROUGH the grate!..."

This sounds too much like a raccoon to be a fox. Male raccoons can reach over 30 lbs. I would try a cage trap, a big one!

Good luck!

some of the largest coon I have caught ( 30-35 lbers )Were caught In a 12"x12"x30" havajunk LOL

I don't think anyone is disputing that you have a fox stalking your animals; what they are saying is that you ALSO have either a raccoon or coyote as well. Putting boards or a brooder against a wall will not keep a predator out--they feed to be fastened with screws or nails. If a person can move something, so can most predators. If you are going to keep birds secured in dog crates, you need to line them (inside or out) with 1/2 x 1 welded wire or 1/2 x 1/2 hardware cloth. Larger openings will allow predators to pull them through the openings.

As for the goat's ear, yes, it could be the horse. Years ago my horse bit off half of my mother's favourite cow's tail.

Well, I am getting ready to head out to set up a few traps...Lost 3 more chickens, which is making me believe you guys were right

(at least I admitted it!!) If so, it must have JUST come around, because we have only had the problem of the fox snatching them when they are loose (seen him catch almost every single one

)
Something broke into my rabbit hutch - impossible for a fox...It is about 2 feet off the ground, and completely enclosed with 1/4" hardware cloth!! Maybe a raccoon?

I'm baiting it with eggs and whatever meaty/stinky thing I can find in the fridge - if no luck, what would you recommend putting in there? Also, location? I am hiding it right next to the chicken hutch it broke into last night, hoping that he will be back for the other 2 chickens that are in it...
I will also be butchering a few roosters at some point this weekend - could I save the "stuff" from that to bait with? Would it work?

Thanks!
