okay have been giving five of them Tylan50 orally for a week or so once at nite. It was mentioned on this forum to give it twice a day> i am lucky to get my Hubby to give them a syringe fully orally at nite...>.o5 ml
it been so damp lately. raining lots right now. Now it seems as there poo is getting tiny like smaller than a pencil. of course this is only noted by droopings on the poo bd overnite. I dont know about day time as they are out in 1/2 acre.. I noticed it with Roo first.... I mentioned before he acts Ravenous...... when I take food out to them. he used to stand back and let his three girls eat firt. Not anymore
I believe the other group of newer girls are getting what Baby girl had or has... I am finding more softer poo in their shelters that have cardboard on the pallet floors... I am getting less eggs everyday. I dont know if they all will endup sterile like Baby Girl.I know its close to winter but more are hanging back not outgoing as much as before and seem skinner.....
I got the Fish zole othr day in the mail.... Should I start on that instead.?
I just wish I could give them something herbal instead
Are they are reliable ways to take poop samples and send them off to a lab.. when there is no vet around here that can do the testing??? OR WILL anyway.......

More medications.... and you still don't know what is wrong with them?

You need to find out what is wrong before you medicate or you are wasting you time and money and your birds will get sicker.

Many people have given you good advise.. but you are not taking any of it?

What advice????/You mean give them junk food big name feed......?? noway....Soy laden chemical laden junk, full of pesticides..... that's mostly what is suggested. Most advice is given about FEED... that is clearly not the problem..... It has to be a pest, mites or parasite or bacteria or fungus or something, mice droppings or something, puddles galore, Cause it started with one Hen and has spread....
Garlic and probiotics etc already doing. They free range.... Its raining outside. they prob got worms galore to eat......... they get plenty of protein from that and occ meal worms, occ canned salmon, and some peanuts too
also suggested to see an avian vet which is no where near here...non existence.....SO how can I find out what is wrong......????
Do you think I want to medicate them??? I dont even take an aspirin myself...
They are clearly having a problem.. there must be some at home testing kits to send to a lab....
All the county extension agent did was look at this FORUM.....

Funny, I feed my chickens Purina "junk food" and they are healthy. Wonder why?

If you keep giving antibiotics without knowing what you are treating, you may not be addressing the actual problem, but killing off all the beneficial bacteria in the chicken's gut, thereby creating runny poop. Most antibiotics given to chickens seem to be for respiratory illnesses.

If they act like they're starving and losing weight, abnormal droppings, I would highly suspect internal parasites. I would not start another antibiotic, but give them a wormer.

I feed my chickens Nutrena layer pellets "junk food" in two feeders that stay full and they are healthy and lay lots of eggs everyday. Now that it's colder I give them a scoop of whole corn and BOSS in the morning and in the evening. They are waiting by the fence for me in the morning for their treat. Our chickens free range all day and I have a Chicken Fountain and another waterer for them to have fresh clean water. Since the Chicken Fountain depends on my water well working (and it does) I also want to have another source of water just in case of an unexpected power failure or well problem. From our garden we give them kale and turnip greens and I also gave them fresh pumpkin in October cut up and served over several days. Their main food though is the layer pellets.

I've tried Purina, Dumor, Nutrena and H&H (which I loved but so expensive $24 for 50 lbs). The Dumor smells really sweet but ever time I tried it my chickens got runny poo, reading the ingredients it has molasses in it so that my be the cause. The only bag of Purina that I tried had no smell and had lots of powder in it. I think it was just old and I had a coupon so I tried it and may again. I got some Nutrena, tried it, the chickens liked it so I just stuck with it and always check the date on the bag for freshness (date produced). I've nothing against Dumor or Purina so please don't misunderstand me.

Not to hurt your feelings ladyearth

but I agree with Hholly and jak2002003, you've been given great advice and thousands upon thousands if not millions of people feed their chickens name brand layer feed and their chickens are just fine. You can keep on doing the same thing that you're doing and if they don't get better, before it's too late, try taking some well given advise for your chickens sake. If all name brand feeds were really that bad, people wouldn't buy them and they would go out of business and yes I'm sure some are better than others.

hi yer
i try not to upset people but if you ask for help you should not throw it back at folk the layer pellets i use have nothing in it that is not natural no chemicals no antibiotics to keep giving them is not doing them any good its the same for us keep taking antibiotics will shoot your immune system
to hell its the same with hens you are heaping on more problems the food i use is from a family run mill who have been making chicken feed for over 20
years i pay 6 g b pounds for a 45 lb bag they have spent a great deal of time effort and money to make a well balanced feed well balanced is the crucial
part the feed contains all the essential vitamins and minerals your flock needs and all the nutrients very bird must have SO UNLESS YOU ARE A
NUTRITIONAL CHEMIST capable of producing your own formulation it makes sense to use only the best feeds to get the best results in terms of
overall health egg laying fertility and show condition give them their greens and a handful or two of wheat and corn before bed time you can feed your cock
the same as the hens he dont lay but he need the protein just like the hens they must have protein for growth tissue repair and for DEVELOPING
IMMUNITY AGAINST DISEASE fats and carbohydrates to provide heat and energy any surplus will be stored as body fat fibre in small amounts to
keep the bowels working all this is in my pellets my girls are all fit and well i got them when they where young and they have come on great in fact 4 out
of 7 are laying my copper black maran is laying nice dark brown eggs there are some photos on site i asked the guy i got them from what should i feed
them layers pellets was the reply he has been breeding pure breed hens for over 25 years took over the gig from his dad so if he tells me to do some thing
i do it cos my hens are my pets so like that other chap said go on doing what your doing and you will just end up with dead hens

good luck
