I have kept chickens on and off since I was....8 years old. Which is ...over 40 years

I have 12 babies right now. My last flock (6 older hens and a rescue rooster) were killed by.... something last year. We re-built the coop to be stronger and are starting over.

I have 5 Buff Orp. 4 Black Astralorp and 2 Barred Rocks. Plus one Lavendar orp. I am fond of the big hardy breeds. I have found them to be peaceful.

I work from home and/or the road as a sort of "personal assistant" for skating coaches. I spend most of my time involved in volunteering for/running various Figure Skating events.

I also have 2 dogs, a horse and a husband.

What breed of dog is that BIG one in your avatar? Part wolf ???
He was only 35 Lbs. He was a shelter mix. We guessed mostly Aussie something or Catahoula. He was my special boy - but he had a sever immune system problem and I lost him when he was about 8 years old. Still have the JRT in the photo and now added a Mini Aussi-Poo.

I'd say part geriatric food mutt! She looks a sweetheart!

edit--Australian sheppherd mixed food bowl wrangler or blue healer mix would be my guess.
My hubby always said he was a "Chow Hound" when we were asked. We did the genetic test on him and it came up with a very tiny % bull terrier. Which seemed.... Unlikely.
