I'm Building an Incubator - please don't bother asking permission to laugh at me

I highly recommend a heat shield over the lights, or else you are bound to find the eggs directly over the lights will get cooked... A section of 4"or 6" round duct work cut into and mounted above the bulb will work well to prevent the heat from directly going to the eggs...
I am using 40w bulbs so it shouldn't be that bad, and I was going to use a soup/soda can or aluminum foil

Anything will work but don't underestimate the temp of a 40W bulb, surface temp on a 40W bulb is about 250°F, so even several inches away it's a lethal temp eggs if they are exposed to it too long...
