Are you hatching the eggs in this incubator? If so the lights underneath could present a problem in regards to mess getting on them, possible fire hazard.
If you take the turner out and hatch the chicks on the bottom of the cooler, the lights may be too close to the chicks?

Also if you have a bulb burn out,( and it does happen

) ...it could be pretty difficult to change the bulb?
You mentioned having to snap things together and I'm not sure exactly what that entails since I don't got one.

I do like your choice for last night. That's much better than building an incubator!

Seriously though...I made some critical errors when I was tired. Please don't put a drill ANYWHERE near your wafer. Please! Just don't do it.
It can end badly.

i will be hatching eggs in it, hmm didnt think about the mess but could do this:

It will have 2 bulbs, so that should help
the snap things ar plastic male end into female end, the the female part was too tight to easily push the other part into so i kept getting pinched

tonight i think that i will stare at it and try to figure out where the f to put the bulbs, wafer, turner, fans

and maybe have some more beer, actually tonight might be a wine night

Sorry, I was having breakfast...and then I was hunting for my measuring tape that some men (who shall remain nameless) have failed to return to me.

Darn it...they take my tools and never return them.

On second thought...there will only be a mess on the lights if one hatches early in the rails. (Surprise hatching eggs happens sometimes too...lol)
I have a false floor in mine of...wait for it and don't laugh too hard...two baking racks covered by perforated plastic craft sheets.
I was thinking false floor on yours too...but you're thinking putting them on the floor to hatch.
The covers would protect the lights.
I was looking to measure how far away the bulbs affect the heat in mine. I run 25 watts in my two lights.
But I can't find the tape measure.

I was using my hubbies (he stole my other one) but his is gross and sticky.
I bought a cheapo pair side cutters from the dollar store.

I wouldn't melt it. That'll make an nasty mess won't it? Use the wire strippers. I would.
