Okay so about a month ago my girls were laying fine all of them then I ran out of food for 3 days I think. and I have given them rice cooked eggs greens and a whole lot of stuff and calcium from cooked egg shells. and they still layed good but as soon as I switched to layer feed the day after I got 0 eggs and every since then I got none. and they all are of laying age they are on layer feed as they should be laying. and at first i thought well it's the short days but I see other people's chickens laying fine. my aunt's down the road they stopped as well and neither of us heat our coops or have artificial light so im confused I love in north Carolina so super cold weather isn't an issue

Egg production can slow down and even stop in the winter time. Chickens use up more bodily resources during this time to stay warm.
Yes I thought of that but they were laying fine all up to a single day and that's what confused me

So I probably won't get eggs till the days get longer and warmer again?
It can take a few days for the lack of nutrition to have an affect......give them time to adjust.
What was the old feed and what is the new feed?
Change in protein levels can have a big effect.

Eggs they laid during the 'food change' were most likely in production during that period. Since they are young birds, I would hope they start laying sooner rather than later.

They had layer feed then I ran out so I feed them table scraps and cooked eggs and crushed shells then back to layer feed

And they started again laying yesterday I found 3 eggs I guess it was just the short days they have been getting longer everyday now but sadly they all froze and burst
