I'm confused

Thanks. Do I need to be concerned about the feed? Is layer feed bad for it?
Yes it can. Can you keep a male?

If yes, you might want to look into "Flock-raiser" or "All-Flock" type feeds. Provide oyster shell on the side, in a separate container where it cannot get wet. The hens who need the calcium for laying will likely eat it on their own. The male will eat some, but not eat as much as the females. This is what I currently feed my chickens and they can regulate what they need pretty well. I have had quite a few males in my flock, several pullets, chicks, hens, and they can all thrive on this feeding setup.

Yes, I saw that. It's just a bad picture. Might the lack of spurs, maybe wattles, suggest a young rooster?

Need better photos to ID breed, but it is male.
Here's a better shot. I guess it has little wattles. It doesn't look much different from the females.
