I'm confused

My nephew brought me 2 hens last night. He said Plymouth Rock Barres. But one just laid a white egg. Meet Betty

Could be a mix, or many birds have the Barred coloring.

Without knowing more about where the birds came from, I'm thinking they might be California Grays. Hoover's Hatchery has them and I've seen them at Tractor Supply before.

From what I've read Tractor Supply have a lot of mix ups on breeds so that could be why it is confusing.

I think they are Barred Leghorns

California Gray. These have been around since the 1930s and are of mixed Leghorn and barred rock ancestry.

As far as I know, there isn't a barred Leghorn variety.

She looks too small to be a barred Holland, and they are quite rare, but maybe.
