I'm confused

California Gray. These have been around since the 1930s and are of mixed Leghorn and barred rock ancestry.

As far as I know, there isn't a barred Leghorn variety.

She looks too small to be a barred Holland, and they are quite rare, but maybe.

I have a Leghorn rescue and they are built like her. They are just starting to lay, small white eggs. They act like her too. That's why I was thinking Barred Leghorn.

I have them. I looked for a source of them for several years but couldn't locate any that were legit Leghorns.
Any I actually put eyes on I would say were California Greys.
I still hear about them sometimes but still unsure if anyone else has the real deal.

Online only. I accepted what he told me. California Greys. I'll do more research. I'm still fairly new to all this and happy to learn more about these beautiful creatures.

Thanks, Moony. The body type of this bird here looks distinctly Leghorn to me and I see the white earlobe. She looks very different from the hen in Post #1 in this thread.

She is beautiful! I'm amazed by how many breeds of barred birds there are! (Personally, I'm partial to Dominiques because of the small comb; not subject to frostbite!)

Ya that's what I've seen when looking at other's barred "leghorns". More of a plump body type.
You know me, I have a Leghorn problem and that's the only thing I have against California Greys. If a chicken was a chicken was a chicken I'd be good with having CGs. Never heard anyone saying anything bad about them.
