I'm finally getting chickens!!!

Hey all. I joined this forum and never got chickens so quit coming. Finally, at the ripe young age of 58, I'm finally getting them! I've wanted them for ages but never had a big enough yard. Now we live on 2 acres in west central Missouri and I'm being gifted with some young hens in two weeks. Not much time to figure out what I'm doing so I'm looking for guidance.

Thanks! I joined the forum years ago but never managed to get chickens, so i gave up. I'm so excited.

Not yet. We only found out yesterday. We nearly turned them down, but decided to go for it. We're thinking of making a A-frame coop with an attached run... like a tractor, but the coop part enclosed. If we didn't have cold weather and predators to think of we'd just do tractor. Its kind of up in the air. We don't know how bad predators will be. We live in the country but the neighbors have dogs and there are dozens of rabbits. I hope we don't find out the hard way.
