This is my first time hatching chicks. Yesterday night I had my first chick successfully hatch. Yay! This morning I discovered that another egg had piped on the bottom side of the egg not into the air cell. That chick died. I am so sad, and I feel like I failed. Now I just found another one that piped on the bottom side of the egg. I'm not sure if it's into the air cell or not. I flipped the egg over so the pip is up. There is a diamond shaped hole in the cell, but the membrane seems to be intact except for a small slit with slightly bloody edges. I have seen her moving around in there but not right now. Should I do anything or just let nature take its course?I really don't want to repeat this morning. This is very stressful.

Sorry to hear you lost a chick. I'd say wait a bit and see what this one does. Chicks can take their sweet time hatching. Some take up to 24 hours from pip to finish!

Definitely wait 24 hours before you do anything. My eggs moved a lot when they pipped the night before, but then the next day they didn't move a lot right before they hatched. Then all of a sudden when they were ready to hatch it was like a rock concert was going on in their shells. Sometimes from pip to zip takes awhile :)
