I've noticed we still don't have any proof!
Not that I believe Wellsummerchick is lying, but this I gotta see! I'm excited to see some pics. Platypi have to be the coolest animal ever!
There are several endangered animals that people keep as pets. Bengal tigers, leopards, lemurs, etc. They are not as endangered as the platypus, but are still endangered.
A platypus would need a fairly large pen. Theyare a fairly large animal after all. They would need a large pool to swim in that provides as natural a setting as possible, River rock bedding and several small fish and large aquatic invert ibrates as well as the occasional large tadpole, which is what platypi eat. They also need a large area of dry land and a large covered nesting area in which to sleep and lay eggs. the total size of the area should be at least 200 feet square to allow for adequate swimming space. these are fairly active and are, after all, a wild animal that requires a great ammount of special care.
This all according to zoo keepers and such, but the same should apply in our own houses.
