My first bobwhite pair have just started laying and I will incubate the eggs soon myself. Will be interested to know how you go.

I have hatched a lot of japanese quail and I find them quite hardy and easy to look after except they are very prone to drowning so avoid using deep waterers. and the water container you use in the hatcher or incubator to bump up humidity, make sure they are way taller than chicks or just use wet sponge.

all the best.

:Thanks alot everyone ill let you know how the whole experance goes:D

I already found quail waters and food containers the are smaller than the chickens, but i cant find a place near me with game bird starter....

Thanks everyone,
Kevin

Yes, Turkey starter will work too

Any feed 18% protein or higher should work fine. 20% is fine, 24% is recommended, anything above that is optimal and may be over kill.
I haven't raised as many birds as many people on the board have, but I have never seen a bird die over a 2-4% protein issue!

Check the manufacturers. Most have a dealer locate function where you enter your zip and get results.

http://www.purinamills.com/

They make a full line of game bird feed starting at 30% starter on down.

http://www.sportsmanschoicefeeds.com/

They make game bird feed, but are very cautious about publishing any detailed information about their products on their web site.
Must be a trade secret!

Durmor makes fine feed but are so un-net savvy....I can't find their web site. The top bezillion google searches reference this very board. If anyone knows the URL, please let me know.

I don't know what kind of bator you have but my HMi8-BettaMagic2000 is always fickle the first day I fire it up. Temp/Humidity is all over the board. About 3 days latter, things settle in.
Consult your incubator instructions, and give yourself at least 3 days to make adjustments. The only way I know of to decrease humidity without any temp adjustments is to #1 Decrease the surface area of the water, and #2 Increase air flow.

70% is not way out of range, but on a side note:You probably should have fired up the bator several days ago.
