I'm Getting Shetlands!!

My son and I have been wanting sheep since the last 4-H fair. Well finally I decided to research caring for them and such. We found a really nice shetland sheep farm, "Windswept," here in Michigan and we visited last Saturday. So this Thursday we are picking up 1 ram (neutered) - he's 6 weeks and 1 ewe lamb that is 5 weeks. We are very excited to add to our little hobby farm. I'll have to post pics when they arrive.

Coming from someone totally ignorant about sheep. Are these pets? Or will they serve a purpose? Other than wool or meat what else are they raised for?

Totally pets. We will sell the wool shaved off them in the spring, but they will not be used for meat. They are quite adorable.

I must have puppies on the brain! I read shetlands and thought shetland sheepdogs.

Well the farm I'm buying them from does have Shetland Ponies, but I can't quite afford them.

A Stetland dog would be nice too.... Well I'll let my DH know I need one of those to herd my 2 lambs...
