Hello! I've already posted with a question, before I introduced myself. It's just how stuff seems to happen around here...Take my introduction into Chicken keeping about 3 weeks ago. Hubby and I had talked about chickens a few times, always with a resounding NO on his part. Then, about 4 weeks ago, he suddenly told me that he might be able to be talked into them. I was shocked, but didn't really give it much thought. A week later, we were at CountryMax to get something for the dog, and they had chicks. Next thing I know, he's talking to a sales guy and we walk out with stuff for the dog, plus 6 chicks, food and a couple other "chick starter" items.
So, off home, to figure out something to put them in and do some research on raising chickens. The chickies (2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Golden Comets and 2 Americauns) are in an old glass tank we had in the basement, but they are fast outgrowing it. We're building the coop this weekend.
Now the Husband is talking about getting several more, and some meat chickens. He wants to keep a rooster, if we end up with one, so we can breed them. (He also wants some that lay white eggs, but I'd like to get ones that will lay eggs of all different colors.) He's even talking about letting me get a couple of goats, which he's always vehemently refused in the past. Who is this guy who looks just like my husband?? Moreover, what in the world have I gotten myself into with this sudden increase in livestock?!
Hang on, it's time for another ride! Wheee!
