And I'm a little bit nervous, but not quite as much as I will be when fair week gets here! Last year was my last year in 4-H, so I will not be able to enter any of my animals in shows. You are able to enter the fair queen contest until you are 21, so I can enter this year and next. I figured I would run this year, as I really have nothing to lose!
The reason I haven't run in the past is because I lacked a talent. (I HAVE talents, just nothing I could show off on stage). Anyways, this year I figured I might be able to borrow some magic tricks from a friend (He is a collector and performs magic as a small side job) However, I recently bought a two year old horse and I am planning to work with her to do showmanship and some simple tricks (like bowing, waving, etc.) over the summer. I *might* be able to bring her and show what I have been able to accomplish. The fair is at the beginning of August, so that would give me a little more than three months to train. I thought that might be a better talent due to the Agriculture nature of the competition, but we'll see if it works out! (At least I have a back up plan in case it doesn't!)
The past few years, there has been very little competition. The public speaking part is NO problem for me, but I still have to find an escort and a car for me to pull up in. I really want to pull up in a truck, but I have yet to find someone with a nice truck I could sit up in the back. I was also thinking I may ask the ambulance corps I am a member of to escort me in our antique ambulance. I thought that would be pretty neat!
I will def update as it gets closer to the competition! I am very excited...and hoping I have a good chance at winning! (First, second, and third place competitors all receive a nice cash prize!)
