I'm gonna candle my eggs tonight

Today is one week since I put the eggs in the bator. Nervous to see how they are doing!

I candled one of my button quail eggs today (just did one because I didn't want to risk having out of the bator for too long). I chose the lightest egg and I couldn't see anything - good or bad. So I guess I'll wait another week - try again with the same egg and if I don't see anything I'll just have to wait!

How long does a quail egg take? Is it like 15-16 days?

Yes, 16 days. 16 L-O-N-G days!

My son wants quail, so I thought about trying to hatch some. Are they hard to hatch?

This is my first attempt but so far everything seems to be going perfect. It's very similar to chickens just a shorter incubation period - and you can't see to candle them. We plan on keeping them in an aquarium in the house! My friends think I'm nuts but oh well!
