The flukers is fluky I think. It is reading 98.7 and the other one is reading 99.1. I know the incubator is 99.5 I have had it sent the same for the past 2 hatches and its thermometer has stayed the same 37.4-37.6 C. This is so frustrating, they worked so good for the first hatchs? I sent for one of those spot checks from Brinsea, I think that is what I should of done from the beginning. :|

My new Flukers seems better, but it could go haywire at any time, I guess. I agree with you. Next one I buy is going to be one with a very tight accuracy rating like the Egg Temp from GQF or the one you mentioned.

I can't help here cause I swore off anything but my meat thermometer in the top of the bator hanging down to top of eggs. I got to frustrated using the other stuff. These meat thermometers do a good job reading the temp.

Can you leave the egg temp going, or do you have to take it out and shut it off all the time. I think that's the one that said to turn it off to save the batteries. I like being able to put one in where I can see through the window so I don't have to open it up to read it.

I think you can put the probe into the bator and let the Egg Temp stay outside, if I'm not mistaken. This is the main problem with artificial incubation, good instruments. Julie may be right about those meat thermometers, though. My friend Kate uses a cook's thermometer as well.

Here is a pic of my meat thermometer

Now why haven't I ever thought of that!!

Went and tried it and I think next trip to town I'll be getting a couple extra meat thermometers. Thanks for sharing that idea

I didnt even think about a meat thermometer! I will try that. Thanks! I know my temp is right in the bator its just the thermometers. The Brinsea spot check is the same as the GQF, I even think it is the same price. They make you pay for priority on all there shipments though. You can stick it threw the ventilation holes in the bottom, so you don't have to open the bator all the time. They say to shut it off if you want to conserve your batteries. It will run for six weeks continuously or at least that is what they say. I'm going to get my meat thermometer and stick it in the bator now.

Lately, I have 3 thermometers, and I take an average. It seems that there are different temps in different parts of the bator, so I rotate the eggs around when I hand turn them.
