You are correct in your regs. Also for those of us who use the eggs as a bi-product of owning them as pets, there's another very key definition: Pet means any animal kept for pleasure rather than utility.
We're getting ready to raise some chickens as pets ourselves so have been reading up on all the requirements and restrictions.
