Im looking at Seramas & Silkies 2morrow any tips on picking good ones?

Ok, besides wanting to see pictures too, I also want to tell you just to keep handling them. None of my birds have ever gotten flighty or aggressive because of being bred. Some of the tame roos might try to evade me a little walking away so that they can stay with the hens, but no bouncing off the wire or anything.

I have some that are flighty because I have never handled them, and I have some that are 'born tame.' Ive never had it take more than a day or two to make a flighty serama into a lap chicken. I think that it is in their genes to be sweet.

If the babies are younger, you have to forgive them! They are teeny and everything is so much bigger and scarier....I would scream and fly away too!

Just give them time, lots of love and cuddles and treats dont hurt either....

Glad you heard from your hubby! I know this is an Alaskan thing, but where was he that a pilot had to get him and his Dall Sheep out? Just wondering!

O my goodness I am so sorry I forgot I had promised you all pics. I will go get some right now of the lil ones I got. Again I am sorry

Okay so they were not to happy about being woke up but O well. I have been working with them and slowly they are getting better. I did wonder why they always seemed to fly so funny. Well they have had their wings clipped!!! No wonder they were not happy about being "messed" with if you were less than ten days when you had someone clip your wings!! Poor lil girls/boys! So I would be shocked to find out they are good seramas but they did the perfect job of being Uno's friends. I think we are gonna name the back one Penguin and as for the other two don't quite know yet. Anyhow it took forever for them to load on photobucket and I am sorry I didn't add them sooner.

I did not take any pictures of the silkies when I was there I'm sorry! I didn't know that being a dark chocolate lab or Hersey bar color was an oddity. All I can say is they were super fluffy non bearded and very very chocolate colored. One hen was a tad lighter but not much. The young man also did state they did have the 5 toes like they are supposed to. I am supposed to be taking my hubby up there to look at those Impeyan birds. I will be sure to get pictures if he still has them.

Again I am sorry for taking so long to post pics.

BlueGrassSeramas He was down in the Chugach Mountains about 50 miles from the nearest road over very hard steep land. His elevation where he camped was 5734 ft and he got the sleep at 6021ft. He just loves the hard work he puts into the chance to get one. And this trip was his first time bringing one home! Im still so proud we just finished working up all the meat. Talk about YUMMY!!

Cute birds! They're going to change a lot over the next few months, so it's hard to tell a lot about them now. And keep working with them; they'll calm down. I just today took my 12 week serama Jester shopping today. He was a very good boy, and the garden center lady at Lowes chickensat while I went inside to get lumber. They had a great time!
