Im need help understanding

I have a hen on two eggs and one piped it's shell and is hatching . The other piped it's shell and died. I looked and it piped its shell in he wrong place and didn't absorb all the yoke or egg whites. What happened ?

It could be any of a number of things, but the simplest explanation is that it just got turned around in the shell, pipped in the wrong spot and either choked on the fluid still inside the egg, or the fluid covered the pip, dried and smothered it. The pip and zip process can take a full day in nature, and the yolk is absorbed over that time. If the chick died shortly after pip, they just didn't have time to absorb it.
