Hello all! I joined BYC because I will soon be a proud parent of some feather-babies. I will be getting ducks though, not chickens, hence the name duck bill platypus. I am currently searching for a local breeder of Blue Swedish quackers. I have my heart set on Swedish but the coloring is not important. We live in the Sacramento area in California. Metzer farms is alays an option but I'd really like to meet the parents if I can. My husband and I are working on their hutch, keeping a strong focus on protection from predators. I haven't even met them yet and my ducklings are already all I can think about. You can bet that pics will follow

Welcome to Backyard chickens. I don't know anything about ducks but you can always post on the "Duck thread," if you need answer to duck specific questions You may want to join your state thread. I believe CA. has at least a North & South thread but, there may be more. Just put state name in the search box and it will pop up. If you introduce yourself there maybe others live near enough to be of help to you.

Have a look around the Buy ~ Sell ~ Trade section for breeders of ducks. If you don't see anything you want, you can place a "Wanted" ad down there. Hope you find what you're looking for!
