That depends a lot on what kind of chickens, where you are putting your chickens, and how many you will have? The feeders and waterers are relatively inexpensive. There is a wide variety of food for chickens just like with dogs and cats. Increased quality means increase in cost. What age will the birds be when you get them? That also helps to figure costs?
I recommend surfing on these forums for some of your answers but also maybe going to the library or barnes and noble and hitting the books. I probably read 30 books before I bought chickens. I read books about chickens -the types, their habits, what they need, ways to amuse them, problem solving strategies when they peck each other or something else arises.... I read about coop building, nest and roost building. Enclosure building. how to get chickens to free range and not run off. Dietary needs, safety concerns....everything you have ever needed and wanted to know you can find in those books. BYC is a great resource for some extra help too. Read up and you will find a style of raising chickens and a type of bird that suits your needs best. :)
