I'm New Here!

Thank you both. I just finished my question, and people here seem friendly enough, so I'm sure people will help in the best way they can there too. I know I'll really appreciate it, like I have for all of you welcoming people here already! I'm always a little intimidated by forums on the internet, but everyone's been kind so far!

G’Day from down under Kristin :frow Welcome!

For once, I am kinda lost for the right words after reading what happened so ...

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or your neighbour hogtied :p, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Neighbor hogtied. Made me actually laugh out loud. How I wish. :p

Yes, I feel like even though it's been over a decade since I got my first chicken, I'm still learning more things all the time. I'll check that link out too. I'd love to see peoples' chickens and maybe share my old babies (and eventually my new ones!).

Finally, how cool! Australia! I've always wanted to go, because I'm a huge animal lover. Just seems like many of my favorite (and the scariest) animals are native there.

Thanks everyone!

I recommend you visit in winter, not summer! ;)

That's probably accurate. Especially that water. Blue-ringed Octopus, those jellies, sharks, snakes (both land AND sea?!), crocs... I'm basically terrified of any water that's not a clear pool or bath, if that wasn't obvious. Still respect all those creatures though. :p

I'd go in the winter for sure. I have an internet friend from there who informed me about the "swapped" seasons years ago. Makes sense, but before then I had never thought of it.

It way too late but, too bad the police didn't dust for fingerprints - where your neighbor touched the coop to open it. I guess they wouldn't go to any trouble when it's "just" chickens. So sorry.

That's what I suggested, but they only sent one cop the first time and I don't think he saw it as a serious offense, though he seemed to agree with us about what happened. When we filed the report a couple days later, right after the neighbor threatened our dogs (and he immediately started practicing shooting outside, as if to make it more threatening), they sent an officer over again. He said they couldn't do the fingerprint dust anymore, not accurately. It was awful, but at least now there are cameras. If the guy even comes to the yard and touches a single feather, he's in trouble. At least I have that comfort. Thank you.
