Hi All, I'm new to BackYard Chickens. My husband and I had chickens several years ago and have decided to jump back into having them again. We have built the chicken coop ourselves and we are almost finished and to the point of getting the chickens.
We have 3 outside cats, one of who is a tripod because he can't stay out of the top of trees!! Four dogs, who have never been around chickens. I have 2 parrots and a dove, they are my babies and keep us laughing for hours! I love our little farm and it is about to get a little noisier and fun around here with chickens.
I'm excited to be able to talk to others who share our interest in chickens and hope we can one day be excellent chicken farmers:D

Thank you lavendermarie!! We are excited but kind of scared about this whole ordeal! When we had chickens before we were new to the country and new to chickens and really had no idea what we were doing but managed to keep them for several years. There was a chicken house already on the property that we used and then when the chickens were gone my husband turned it into his shed, so this is why we are building a new coop. I like where we have it now because I can look out my kitchen window and see them. Also, I'm not so sure how to use these forums so I hope everyone is patient with me!
