I'm new here!

Thank you lavendermarie!! We are excited but kind of scared about this whole ordeal! When we had chickens before we were new to the country and new to chickens and really had no idea what we were doing but managed to keep them for several years. There was a chicken house already on the property that we used and then when the chickens were gone my husband turned it into his shed, so this is why we are building a new coop. I like where we have it now because I can look out my kitchen window and see them. Also, I'm not so sure how to use these forums so I hope everyone is patient with me!
I was scared when I first got my chickens too! But you guys already have some experience and tons of people here are eager to help and answer any questions you may have along the way! Also, that sounds so fun to be able to see them from the kitchen window! I wish you guys all the luck in the world getting your flock started up again! Have fun! And don’t worry, forums get easier to use as you go along :)

No, we're not really sure. I had Black Sex Links before because I didn't want a rooster but this time I think my husband is wanting a rooster. Do you have any ideas on a good breed?

I don't know what type of climate that you live in. I like my Bielefelder's though, and some of the pullet's are just now starting to lay egg's. I also have 2 cockerel's. I hatched them out myself from hatching egg's, and love that they really can be sexed at hatch by the coloring of the chick fuzz. These are not a sex-link, but rather an auto-sexing breed. The girl's are supposed to lay large to jumbo sixed egg's, and the boy's are good sized too. They are a good dual-purpose breed.
