(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We've had chickens for around 5 or 6 years now.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 35. About to add around 10 more. Starting a breeding program this season.
(3) What breeds do you have? Light brahmas and leghorns for the core laying flock, then crested cream legbars, Whiting True Blues, true ameraucanas, and BCMs.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Watching their goofy behavior and having them run from across the property to greet me when I come home during their free-ranging excursions.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Building, gardens, reading, and video games.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My fiancee and I have an 8-year-old daughter, who is starting to get more involved in the chicken raising. We have a beautiful and goofy Great Pyrenees who we love dearly. He's our boy! I am an estimator for a large mechanical contractor in the city.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC on Facebook. Been a member there for a while and decided it's time to join the website community. I read info on BYC on Facebook a lot.
