Hello,
My name is Mars and I'm brand new to chickens! I got my first 8 chicks last Thursday, May 14th, 2020.
I got 2 Buff Brahmas, 2 Dominiques, 2 Golden Lace Wyandotte, and 2 Blue Plymouth Rocks. I'm getting 16 more in July and they're gonna be colored egg layers.
Unfortunately one of my Buff Brahmas, Menina came really small. I think she might be a runt and on her first day, she was really wobbly. She's still really wobbly so I have separated her from the bigger ones and she still has a hard time walking. When I isolate her she just keeps chirping and chirping and peeping and peeping so I place her with the 2 smallest ones left, we call them the sleeper twins that's all they seem to do, and she does quiet down and sleeps quite a bit, I just don't know what's wrong with her. One of her legs is constantly extended and she chirps quite a bit. I think one or two of the bigger ones jumped on her and hurt her a bit more. I feed her and water her as much as I possibly can. So I'm a little stressed and at every peep she has me jumping up from bed or from my desk to check on her.
I read a lot not sure if that's a hobby just something I like to do, I used to surf when I lived by the ocean. I live in the mountains now, but I'm not a big fan of snow. I'm a wine enthusiast, I'm obsessed with David Bowie and have been since I was 5 or possibly even younger!! I love music, I feel that it expresses me and my feelings better than I can with words. I have a loving boyfriend that has 2 beautiful little girls that I have claimed as mine. We have a red heeler that is quickly becoming very protective of the babies.
I found this site because I entered a question to the googs about chicks that don't stop peeping and chirping (Menina) and I already got some good info on the little bit of access I had. So I figured hey, maybe I should join so I may ask questions and not enter into panic modes! My boyfriend has had chickens before but no offense to all males but he's a guy and he's all she'll figure it out. So I rather spend a little bit to save her then "figure it out" and cry for a month because she passed.
So that's me right now learning and praying that my little one makes it. I'm excited about this new adventure and I can tell already I'm going to love this!!
