For Christmas my dear husband and kids surprised me with chickens. Well they actually gave me a bag of chicken food but I got the idea! I did that goofy laughing, crying thing because I was so excited. I always wanted chickens but had never asked for them or really pursued it so it was a complete surprise. It really came out of now where. When I asked them how they knew that said that I always mention how fun it would be to have my own chickens. (I had no idea that I even ever talked about it!)
They also got me a small coop to start with. Well, chicken math being what it is, I ended up with 6 instead of 2 and now the boys are building me a new coop!
The cuties arrived last week. I wanted to wait until spring before we got them. Waiting was pretty hard. I even had a chicken countdown ap on my phone. The kids thought I was nuts!
I have been lurking since Christmas and now am excited to join the BackYard Chickens community!
Unfortunately I jumped on here today because one of the girls is not thriving and I need some advice. I will post on a different thread. I am so grateful to have this resource.
