How old are they when they start laying eggs

18-30 weeks but 20-24 is the norm.

ETA
It also is dependent on the breed. Some egg hybrids will start quite early if allowed.
Slower maturing breeds will be in the mid to upper 20s range.
This chart gives some indication of the maturity rate of various breeds.
