Hi! Wel come! What a wonderful family and farm you have! God Bless !Hi everyone.
Im Megan and Im new here, and fairly new to raising egg producers. My husband and I have a grass fed beef cattle business and 4 children (14 yrs,12yrs, 10 yrs ,&18months) the only eggers we've had were rhode island reds when the kids were little, and we couldnt keep up to egg production, or give away enough eggs. Now with much older children we are trying again. My daughter (12) begged for chicks- again we live on a large farm- this wasnt a problem. We got brahmas and americaunas...we thought. We have no puffy cheeks. A few are definite buff brahmas the rest are black or brown with black barring. Friendly nice birds. We have 12 hens and get 11 to 12 eggs a day. So they are great. We also have 8 roos who free range and keep the tick population away. Recently we got 2 EE (fingers crossed theyre pullets) and 3 blue laced red wyandottes and a lemon orpington given to us... we dont need anymore roos, so hoping theyre pullets
id like to share pictures as they grow to hear all your guesses!
a friend shared some chicks she hatched with us and we are excitedly awaiting feathers!!
left picture has a turkey (we didn't get it) a lemon orpingtons and a blue laced red wyandotte chick. The right pic she thinks is a prairie bluebell.
