I'm new ...

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock!:welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all the information you need to know about poultry! There is always space for more members on the BYC roost!:highfive: I agree with @Abriana that one rooster is enough per ten hens although I kept one rooster with two hens and there wasn't one feather missing from them. He mated each hen only about once a day but all roosters are different. Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!
I was thinking that you might be able to get away with two Roos and twelve hens if the roosters were older. Two cockerels with twelve hens would be a real life NIGHTMARE

Have fun choosing your chickens!

Our flock is a family affair and strictly for eggs. Part of the fun for me has been having a variety of egg colors. Choosing a variety of breeds has been part of the fun too. We have Silkies, Easter Eggers, Black Copper Marans, Buff Orpingtons, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Buff & Light Brahmas, Swedish Flower Hen and Gold & Black Sexlinks. We plan to add more next year. :)
