I got into chickens this year I have approximately 7 ISO Browns my coop is fouris 4 x 4 by 4 with a run of 4 by 8 turn on this web site by looking up our ISO Browns aggressive

Hi! Welcome to BYC! I'm so glad you joined our group! Let me be the first to warn you that you may have some pecking problems and possibly cannibalism with that small coop and run. It is barely big enough for 4 chickens. I say that, and then there are people who have good luck and it works out.

Hold old are they? They might be small enough right now to be getting along, but be watchful for signs of pecking or bullying. One thing that can help make it work is lots of obstacles and multiple feeding and watering stations.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sounds like they are cramped? Chickens need a minimum of 5 square feet per bird in the coop and 10 square feet per bird in the run or they will turn cannibalistic.

Welcome to BYC! Is there any way you can let your approximately 7 chickens out to a bigger area for part of the day? The small area they are in is likely causing the aggression.

My neighbors who take care of my chickens right now thought I have 7 bantams. But they counted 8.
Btw. They have a run of 16 m2 (approx. 175 square feet)

You can also add "chicken toys," which will defuse boredom issues that lead to feather plucking in addition to other evils. Toys can be simple like a small colored ball they can push around. A head of cabbage hanging just high enough where the flock has to jump up to eat some.

Safe Parrot toys with bells they can ring(and won't come off) . Wooden blocks they can climb up on, a dog type Kong toy - that you pack with safe treats .Birds have to work at getting a taste. Loafing around won't get them anywhere.

Long, boxes with open sides they can go through or hide in. Some chickens even learn
to use a small swing, and figure out how to keep it swinging.

They can be so much more than egg layers- they can develop their brain function and maybe find more enjoyable pastimes than pecking a roost mate bald. Too much working of their brains may lead to mutiny but, I doubt it will be an over night happening.
