As you now know I am new to this whole chicken raising and farming deal but I was raised on a dairy farm and have worked cows since I was 5. This appears to be a much simpler livestock to work with. I would like some advice for feeding and teaching them where to lay eggs and info on the best breeds. My best friend grew up on a game cock farm so he know a lot about that part of chickens but that doesn't help me raise small time egg chickens. My hens are around 5 months old I have a white Leghorn and a red pullet and dominecker rooster about a year old and 2 gray roosters.

If you go to the backyard chickens forum you will find several tabs to explore - ones on feeding - others on egglaying and chicken behaviors etc. The Learning Center is also a great spot for answers to questions you probably didn't know you had.

Hi and good luck with your flock. Lots of help here from people that know a lot more than I do. Here is my two cents anyway. I think that we tend to forget that the chicken knows what to do. We only supply them with what they are looking for. An acceptable nest, proper food and water.
Good luck
