I'm confused. How do I search for somebody???

Put their member name in the large search box near the top of the page and hit search. Members will show up as Users. If there is no one with the name you entered or something close, you will get no "Users."

I don't believe moderators delete threads upon request unless it seriously violates BYC terms. I do believe they will close your thread and lock it for you.
