Hi,
Basically, I don't have a lot of time for blogging, but I do love my BYCs. We started with four, have only one left from that wonderful group - a Rhode Island Red named Rhody, who is a little over 2 years old. We successfully introduced four babies to her (2 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Rhode Island Reds) , one of which turned out to be a rooster. They are almost to egg producing age, when up showed this regal black and white speckled bird, who obviously was lost and wanted to claim this as her new home. She is bigger than our Buff Orpingtons and even our older Rhode Island Red. I've ruled out Jersey Giant, but not Black Copper Marans or Black Buff Orpington based on the pictures on your site.

Bottom line, she has worked her way into the pen and although there is a tiff from time to time, they are settling in. I'd just like to know what she is. She has charcoal legs with orange toenails. She is speckled on her head with a black neck and speckled feathers. Her tail is black.

I do have some pictures, but don't know yet how to add them to this site. Would appreciate input.

We're glad to have you.

It's hard to identify your bird just from a description. She may even be a mix. Here's how to post photos:

Go down to the Reply box. Click on the icon that shows a little photo of mountains and a sun (for me, it is to the right of the place to select the alignation of the text). A new window/box will appear. It should say "upload files" somewhere on it. Click "upload files", then locate the photos you want to upload and click on them. The box/window will change, and ask you what size you want the photos to be when they are added to the post. Decide on the size, then hit Submit. The photos should appear in the Reply box. Finish whatever you want to say and Reply.

I hope this helps! You can post photos in this thread, or you can post in the What Breed or Gender section of these forums: What Breed Or Gender is This?, where you may get more responses.

Good luck with your flock!
