I'm already behind on the chicken math. There's only so much you can learn in a day. I'd started by planning for 3 hens and, with reading multiple sources in a short period of time, found that I'd need between 6 and 10 sq ft times 3 hens. I designed a nice 16 sq ft coop and 36 sq ft run but then came home with 4 chicks ( minimum purchase) and found out the space I was building in was a couple inches short in each direction. My finished coop is 14.5' sq , plus external nesting boxes, and the run is only 33'sq.
I've built a small chicken tractor as well and I'm planning to add some sort of connection (habitrail style tube?) To give them more space. Since I'm already over crowded, a bigger flock is out of the question.
