This morning I went outside to let the chickens out, and their water buckets were frozen over :(
Am I the only one who feels like winter is coming way too soon?
Today the high is 45°F, and the low is 33°F
My strategy to dealing with frozen water buckets is to just fill them with warm water. What do other people do?

We use electric buckets with heavy-duty exterior extension cords. Not running out there in bitter cold wet and/or snow and wind to dump out ice or icy water several times a day and pour warm or hot water in several buckets. I'm too old for that!

I agree, I am not ready for winter. There is too much work to do outside.

I have heated dog bowls/buckets (left over from my ducks) and there is an extension cord running out to every coop. I am not going to risk breaking my neck on the slippery steps while running water out every five hours. The heated dishes are from K and H Pet Products.

We have high temperatures of 35F and lows of 20 F, with wind (today).
