I just got more chicks and put them in the brooder. 2 silkies, 2 EEs, and 2 Jersey Giants. They are in with my Mottled Houdans, Barred Rocks, Buffs, Game chicks and RIRs. With what's already out in the coop, that makes 40 chickens! And I only wanted five to start with! So..... How did I get into this?

Well, my best explanation is that chickens have some strange mind control thing over unsuspecting people like us. We started with 4... I now have somewhere around 25 plus eggs under a broody

my DH just shakes his head and gives the ok to get more

the sweetness of the chicks makes your blood sugar levels sky rocket causing you to blank out momentarily. then you have lapses of reason, ordering more chicks.

i know this how? i have over eleventy billion chickens/chicks/ducks/geese/turkeys etc running all over my yard.

it all started with, 'Honey, do you think it would be okay if I got six chickens to raise up?'

we are now a small scale poultry farm!

That is obviously what happening! I know I told my friend "NO WAY!" when she asked if I wanted more chicks! But then I heard "Yes, Please." coming from my lips. Must be Mind Control!

Yeah, I TOTALLY hear you!

It all starts with a nice little suggestion/Brainwashing by the media like if you read Mother Earth News. I swear they have something about chickens in every issue. So originally I asked my husband if we could have 3 hens and no roosters, and he built me a cute little coop. Next thing you know, in a year I have 2 dozen chickens, and 2/3 are bantams, I bought an incubator, hatched my own chicks, now am going to start breeding and showing.

EVIL. It's like the free samples they give you at the grocery store to get you hooked, then it turns into a huge Ben and Jerry's Pigout fest......
