I'm new to chickens just decided to build a small coop and run and get 8 chickens 3 months ago. I managed to build the coop but unfortunately due to covid egg laying chickens haven't been coming in the country so I'm still waiting for my girls. In the meantime I got 10 cotounix quails and bought 100 quail eggs to incubate and got a couple of bantam chicken eggs too and had my baby quails 10 days ago.

I'm a tv producer from Malta, married with 4 kids, have a small vineyard and love cooking and travelling.

My wife breeds Siberian cats and we have 3 cavalier king Charles dogs too.

I got to know about byc through Google as most of the questions I had about my quails and incubating, the best results were from here. So I decided to join this wonderfully community.

Hi and welcome! I’ve never owned quail either and don’t know much about them. I thought bantam eggs were little....how many of those little quail eggs are you going to need for an omelette?? :welcome
My baby bantam Godzilla hatched 5 days after the quails and looked like a giant next to them. :)

Do you recognize what breed he is as I got his egg as a bonus with my 100 quail eggs?

Aww its adorable! And really puts into perspective the size of the other quail! It’s a little hard to tell when they are all wet and wrinkly like that lol, but once it dries out and fluffs up someone may be able to tell you the breed. Not seeing any beard, extra toes, or footfeathers so that rules out a few bantam breeds. :)
