I'm Probably Gonna Need My Hand Held Quail Hatch-A-Long

Pics
I don’t know if I should try to assist this one. It’s the one in the lower right that’s been zipped since this morning.

The fluff poking out is dried looking.

I went ahead and pulled the cap off. It popped the rest of the way out by itself.

I think it might have deformed feet tho. Could be why it was struggling to hatch.

It had been trying to hatch since 11 AM. I was wondering what was holding it back

There’s at least one or two more eggs to the back of the incubator that look similar. Zipped, dry fluff sticking out, minimal movement. Wonder if they have the same leg issues.

Maybe the feet can be put in a splint? Im not sure the limitations on splints. Poor precious cuties.
I haven’t seen it use its legs at all. It’s not moving them or even trying to get its legs under itself. It just rocks side to side by pushing with its wings.

Olive oil around the zipped bit, maybe a little on the feathers but not too much. Get a smear on your finger and wipe the edges of the zipped shell.

Give it time, once it dries a bit more warm your hands and give it a looking over. It was stuck for quite awhile so it might need a bit of therapy . . . gently puling the legs in the right position to see what's going on
