I'm really mad/dissapointed (Rant)

Reading your initial post a couple of times, I am still confused by what exactly you wanted the seller to do. It had been a month. Did you ask them to refund it or something? I guess I am wondering what the rest of the story is. Why would you have sent them pictures? Do you think they are to blame for something or were you just calling them for moral support or something along those lines?

I called them hoping they would let me come over and pick up another...i spent $50 on those ducklings! My dad believes it is a genetic issue now because they have been inbred so many times there. If you look at its feet, the toes are starting to curl inward and it wont walk on them anymore...does anyone know what that could be?? I'm clueless...my dad wants me to let them go...but I know that would certainly kill them.

Well, as MJ knows, I have just ended a similar situation except that I hadn't had my babies as long. I ended up having to put the baby down and because I would have had a loaner, I went to MJ's today and got another baby similar in size. He was fine once the sick baby was removed and some time passed. My little one had one good leg and the other became deformed. She would try to walk on the elbow/knee/leg joint and eventually, it would have become a sore. You'd be better euthanizing it and getting another one. If it is genetic, you don't want to breed it and chance passing the trait on to other babies or sell babies that you know are possible carriers of the trait.

just because your dad 'believes' they did something wrong doesn't mean he's correct.

if the duck is suffering, put it down. LET THEM GO???? not an acceptable means of animal husbandry nor is legal. you may want to rethink that option heavily.

the difference between inbreeding and line breeding is only the outcome.

your last sentence states that you are clueless. meaning you don't know what happened. exactly. unless you get a necropsy done by a vet, you wont know and the blame cannot be pointed.

Well maybe you could go and pick out another duckling that looks and acts healthy and is the same age and size as your healthy one.

Sometimes they just do not thrive and there is nothing anyone can do about it. I agree they handled it poorly and suck at customer service.

Who says they hadnt gone to dinner and got back right after u called? Sounds like you assume alot. I also cant believe that you spent $50 on 2 ducklings....round here I pay $6 a duck....and I think thats alot.

No I called them once and ten minutes later I called back, and they didnt answer, only their son. But within the next few minutes they called back from home, I have called I.D., but anyway its over now...there is nothing they or I can do...

Have you seperated the two? Might be a good idea if you haven't just to keep the ailing one from being stepped on. Is it still eating? What are you feeding it?
