What's the average hatch rate?
If I want 3 hens, how many should I put in?
Is it worth putting in more than 5 eggs to get more chicks?

The average hatch rate depends on how good a broody your hen is, normally it is around 80% or less.
Yep, it is deffinetly worth putting more then 5 eggs in if you want 3 hens, what's to lose? Id say around 6 or 7.
