I'm really bumming over this not sure why. Last night my daugher, hubby and I went to dinner. While we were there her friend called and said that a friend of theirs had died the day before. My daughter was not really close to him, but her friend and he were getting close. As a matter of fact, this young man of 20 years, had been at my house last week. He came over and hung out, played with the dogs, met our horses, we talked about cars and racing, he went swimming in our pool, I cought him kissing my daughters friend in the house, and kiddingly scolded them.

He had such a beautiful smile and was funny and a little reserved.

My daughter took the call very well and said that he'd fallen and hit his head on his table in his house. Had been there for a day........my dd is fine (almost alarmingly cool).

I think it's bothering me so bad because my son is 21 and a knucklehead. I think wow, it could've been mine. My heart goes out to his parents.

Stuff like that scares me. Makes me want to hug my DD's tight and not let go.

I was a little freaked out because my 11-year old told me where she wants to be buried someday. She decorates graves for Memorial Day every year at a smallish graveyard, and there's one grave she takes extra care of because it has no name. Just that it has a young boy buried there.

The whole conversation weirded me out...

Sorry to hear the news. Sometimes it takes time for these things to sink in, which might explain why your daughter was unemotional at the time.

My grandmother died suddenly of the same thing. If you hit your head in just the right spot you are almost instantly deceased. It's kinda crazy, but makes one appreciate the fragility of life. Enjoy it while you've got it!

We never know when it will be time, and it is really scary to consider losing your own kids.. Particularly when there is an overlap like that.. I am really sorry for your loss!!!

I think it got to her later today when she went to his MySpace page and saw his last comments and last login and all the comments his friends had left. She said wow, "you just never know".

I feel really sorry for the my daughters girlfriend, the one who had him over, because her dad just died 3 months ago at 44 years old from a massive heart attack. She told her dad not to come in and wake her up that morning that she wanted to sleep, so he left and died. She said that's her biggest regret! Now her friend....sad

I think the young life cut short gets to us all. All that potential wasted, all the opportunies, the friendships, the work not done, it is very sad. I think it hits home even more when you have kids of that age. Feel free to greive, compassion is blessing, I think.

Sorry I can't spell.
